Dreamhost report that their core and secondary DNS servers failed, which meant everything stopped working, and I do mean everything. I couldn’t check my email!
We’re back of course, but yours truly is being grumbled at by the other two members of the Troppo Triumvirate, so we might be moving hosts again in future.
For now though: enjoy!
 UPDATE: It’s not an act of a capricious God. Dreamhost report that the DNS servers failed due to a DDoS attack. This means that somebody somewhere is trying to bring down a particular site hosted by Dreamhost by attacking everything Dreamhost serves up. Sadly this is more and more common, and all we can do is hope that the Dreamhost guys get on top of things.
